TURUNÇ’s data protection and privacy practice was formed long before the GDPR and its Turkish counterpart KVKK came into force. Since our founding, we’ve advised multinational clients on privacy issues as they relate to employees, customers and other third parties, particularly on the compliance of companies’ global practices with Turkish constitutional rights.
Based on the strength of our historical practice, we were one of the first firms to build a dedicated and strong data protection and privacy practice in the new era of GDPR and its ilk.
Our advice is all-encompassing and includes building and maintaining compliance programs, reviewing the adequacy of existing programs, developing business models and products (privacy by design), cross-border and group company protection and transfer matters, employee data protection, advising boards on best practices, dealings with regulators, drafting privacy agreements, and integrating data protection and privacy safeguards into transactions.
Our data protection and privacy team works closely with all of our other practice areas, in particular employment and technology.
We are a founding member, and our managing partner Kerem Turunç is a member of the supervisory board, of the Data Protection Association. We also regularly author the Turkish chapter of Lexology: Getting the Deal Through’s Data Protection and Privacy title.
